Proposed plan for Daycare Center

This daycare center was proposed to be built within an existing airplane hangar. The facility would accommodate children from ages 6 weeks to 5 Years. The proposal consisted of 3 Shapes to be built within the hangar. On the original floor of the hangar would be the children’s outdoor play area. During more pleasant weather, the hangar doors could remain open allowing the children the fresh air, while protecting them from the sun. Two columns contain the elevators and fire stairs leading up to the “shapes.” The main elevator would take you up to the triangle, which contains the main reception area as well as the administrative offices. It also takes you up to the square that contains all of the class rooms. From the class rooms one takes the secondary elevator down to the circle that contains the library, theater, and kitchen. We ensured that the finishes had different textures and bright colors to stimulate the children and encourage their learning process. The design also included interactive panels, and state-of-the-art technologies to integrate the natural surroundings of Hawaii with the best educational tools.
